The Burdett Volunteer Fire Department would like to take this time to introduce our new web site The purpose of our web site is not only to inform the people of our small community of what our department is about, but also bring our community closer together.

We hope by including information about the history of the fire department and the history of the community it will help to allow one to learn about our rich past. We have also included a Community Focus page where individuals can write in about different community news and events that one would like to share. A Classified Advertisement page has been included in hopes to allow the community to post items for sale or to place different types of announcements. In return we would ask though if you could make a small donation to the fire department to help us buy equipment and other items, in order for us to help serve our community better.

We also have included a monthly cross word puzzles, and fire safety games for family's to enjoy, while learning on how to prevent fires and take care of hazards that could cause injuries or property damages. We hope to be able to continuously supply you with new and exciting games so please check in as often as you can to have fun. We have also included history on fire fighting for your enjoyment.

We are also always looking for new members. We have several different types of position with in the department that one can do, such as Fire Police, Volunteer Junior Fire Fighters, Volunteer Fire Fighters, and Auxiliary to name a few. For our members we have a member’s calendar page. This page will inform you of up coming training's that our department will have along with county offered training's, monthly meetings and other events that are important to the members of the department.

In 2009, the Burdett Fire Department (BFD) purchased land east of Dandy Mini
Mart on Route 79 for the future location of a much-needed Fire House. Our
existing facility was constructed in 1948 allowing dedicated volunteers to
provide professional fire, rescue, and EMS services for the community.
Unfortunately, we are unable to renovate the existing facility due to high
costs and issues with the deteriorating land.

BFD is hosting its 1st Annual Golf Tournament on Saturday, August 28, 2010,
10 a.m., at Par Perfect in Watkins Glen to raise funds for a new Fire House
to store equipment, offer meeting space, and host community events. We are
seeking sponsors to assist with the success of our tournament with a variety
of opportunities including:
